First opened in the 1950s as Cliffy Hauser’s general store, Cliffy’s Emporium remains a cherished Daylesford icon. Over six decades later, its heart and soul stay lovingly preserved through rustic timber shelves, vintage signage, weathered floorboards, and a cozy fireplace. Today, Cliffy’s is both... a bustling general store and one of the region's best-known cafés. Local farmers still drop off fresh produce daily, inspiring wholesome home cooking and star menu items—from local eggs and cheeses to regional charcuterie. Patrons gather around original long timber counters, unwind in the cozy former bike shop, or sit beneath grapevine verandahs with exceptional coffee or regional wine. True to its merchant roots, the shop also stocks specialty groceries, local preserves, and handcrafted homewares like Tumut millet brooms and ceramics. Led by local partners Liam Thornycroft and Samantha Mackley, Cliffy’s pairs authentic history with warm, old-fashioned service.
