Garden open 10am-4pm on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November.
Open for the first time in almost 10 years, don’t miss this opportunity to experience the history and grandeur of this extraordinary garden.
Wombat Park Estate’s garden described as ‘pure romance’, first planted in the early 1850s and continuously developed throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, is of State significance. A splendid residence, designed by the celebrated Melbourne architect Rodney Alsop, was erected c.1910-12.
It is glorious; not only for the handsome Arts and Crafts home which is the centrepiece of the garden, but for the extraordinary selection of trees furnishing the exquisite tapestry of garden rooms. Each season delights the senses with constant changes to foliage colour. The dramatic framework of clipped hedges, sweeping lawns and towering evergreens provide form and function. Sheltered garden rooms and hidden spaces are the essence of this magical garden. This is a garden of magnificent conifers and deciduous trees, mostly planted between 80 and 180 years ago, and certainly worth a trip into the Victorian countryside.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase on the day along with plants, garden wares and books. Onsite stallholders over the weekend include Passing Clouds Winery, Spade to Blade Catering, Daylesford Gourmet, Enki Apothecary, The Secret Garden, Bridget Bodenham Ceramics, The Woolshed Australia, French Baskets, and more…
